Does Democracy need Election?

My friend came up this question to me.

Election is not totally democracy, as my personally thought, but it is one of the important sub-sections in the democracy meaning. Basically, Democracy (literally "rule by the people", from the Greek demos, "people," and kratos, "rule") is a form of government for a nation state, or for an organization in which all the citizens have a vote or voice in shaping policy, and generally Election just come up to answer the democratic system need.

If you say “Democracy is totally Election”, I am afraid to disagree with you because it is just partially right.

On the other hand, if you tell me “Election is totally Democracy”? I will answer quickly that it is right; in addition Election is one of the most important parts of democracy in its meaning, so that it is not democratic system definitely if we don’t have any Election.

just like you said ja ^_^

agree

"Thai style" is just an excuse, not a practical solution
+++++++++++++++

Hi.......,

Nice to hear from you again.

I agree with the above quoted. It is, however, not only a practical solution but it is the word to be used for those who do not have a good plan to solve problem. Then, they just mention this word "Thai style" (or “Thai way”) instead of giving any solution or saying nothing.

According to the “Change” you mentioned, if without the COUP taking over the government at that period of time………. Don’t you think that Thailand may had bloodshed ?

As we have realized that Thais were facing with the crack between the two groups which was created by Sonthi(Lim) and Taksin. At that time, the Coup was only one choice we had…..How much choice did we have ?.... If we left the problem on the way of democracy and let the ball rolled, what would happen ?...... How long would it take to wait for the democratic system to make things get back as before ?

Our quality of Thais is not the same as Western countries where their people learned democracy long before us. Democracy in Thailand can not always be implemented if we do not focus on providing the good education for new or next generation. Then, we will keep talking about the democracy forever.

Many Thais have been proud of having never been a colony the same as our surrounded countries, including me. This, however, has pro an con which also has made some Thais not to be familiar with being struggle as well as Japan and others.

Nationalism is one of the great things, but we (Thais) lack of it. Government should feed Nationalism to Thai children from primary school so that our citizens will practically love our nation such as buying stuff that is made by Thai people, etc. And, this we would be like Japan that its citizen has this thing stick in mind before doing things.

Politics and Corruption always go together for years in all counties on this planet, but non-developed country have much more. Any system or high technology can never stop it, but people can do so by start teaching our kid at home to not do anything in the corrupt ways. After that, we will have less corruption the same as Western countries as we have wished.

Regarding the Coup and the government that came from taking over, I very much supported them at the first beginning, but NOT MUCH from now on because they do not have the willing or the real intention to directly solve or cure the crisis problems such as the followings:

1. The crack of Thai people.

2. Justice system (Reorganize the police dept.)

3. The daily killing/Bombing/Burning from the DUMMY dogs in the 3 provinces (get rid of those dogs by using any law the same as using to other Thai people, and compromise with good people only)

4. Matter of Corruption (issue any act. to have kind of cross check or check of balance by any who is not in the same organization)

Thank you again for opinion about this. Please visit us again when you have time. Above is all I have from now.

Take care and have a wonderful day !
